Race Across the Channel this Summer for the Tour de France

Rather than watching the Tour de France on the television this year, why don’t you hop across the Channel for your own Tour of France?

Whether you are a Tour de France enthusiast and would like to follow the action as it happens, or looking for a relaxing cycling experience or a mini-break, Dunkirk is just a short hop away on a ferry, from the White Cliffs of Dover.

Norfolkline’s ferry services run every two hours between Dover and Dunkirk. The quiet port of Dunkirk is just over an hour from the action on Tuesday 6th July, when the race reaches the area of Arenberg Porte du Hainaut. The fourth stage between Cambrai and Reims also offers spectators the perfect opportunity to join the event, being just under two hours from Dunkirk port. Alternatively, you can map your own cycling route to explore and discover new areas of France.

Chris Newey, Norfolkline’s general manager for passenger services, said:

“The Tour de France is an amazing event and if you love cycling I would definitely recommend joining the race at any stage, especially as this will be the last opportunity to see Lance Armstrong in action. You get a real glimpse of France as you watch the cyclists race though the rolling valleys and negotiate their way through cobbled streets.”

“Travelling on a ferry also offers the perfect opportunity to take your bike on holiday with you. There are so many beautiful places to visit in France, taking your car and a bike means that you have the freedom to explore at your own leisure.”

A short trip to France starts from £19 each way and mid-week breaks from £29 return with Norfolkline.
